Gold Vermeil

Gold vermeil is a sterling silver plated using a thick layer (at least 2 microns) of 24ct gold. It has a brighter finish and more depth of colour than 9ct gold. It is more hardwearing than mass-produced fashion jewellery and is ideal for those with an allergy to normal plated jewellery items. Please see below on how to care for gold vermeil.

Jewellery Care

All of our jewellery is made with recycled sterling silver and 9ct gold, and all are completely nickel free.

Sterling Silver and Gold: Although these metals will tarnish over time, it's easy to bring them back to the original colour using a cleaning solution, which can be bought at most high street jewellers or online. Please follow manufacturers instructions. To reduce tarnishing time, keep jewellery in a sealed container, such as a jewellery box, where air exposure is minimal. Scratches and light surface wear, most commonly found on rings and bangles, are normal.

Gold Vermeil: Over time this can wear off to the metal underneath, most frequently with rings and bangles that are more exposed to knocks when worn. Where possible, care should be taken when cleaning and storing gold plated jewellery separately to protect the layer of gold from being worn away or scratched. If you require your item to be re-plated, please get in touch with me to arrange this.

Sustainability

I make every possible effort to reduce the impact of my jewellery designs on the earth and the environment. I do this by:

  • Ensuring the silver and gold metals that we use are made from recycled materials. (Unfortunately this isn't currently possible for chains). The metals being recycled means they have been melted down and re-worked to create new designs. This in turn reduces the negative impact of mining on the environment.

  • Packing orders using sustainable recycled/recyclable materials. The Darte branded gift boxes are made from 100% eco-friendly cardboard.

  • Avoiding unnecessary paper waste - I do not include printed invoices unless specifically requested.

Ring Sizing

If you are unsure of your ring size then I can send you a ring sizer which you can view here, please send me a quick message with your details and I will send one out to you.

If you have ordered a ring from me and the fit isn’t quite right, I can alter this for you once free of charge, this does not include gold vermeil rings. Please note, the customer will have to pay any postage costs incurred.
